Post Arthur WIP: Knight Dominus
Concept: combination of steampunk, old english, roman discipline, and a dash of aboriginal totems.

Still very much a work in progress and requires adjustment in many glaring places.
I am hoping some of your criticisms will help fix them :)

Thanks

Hi Arthur,
Cool design so far. Very unique. There are a few issues, the same issue with the straight hands that you have on your prisoner image. His right arm seems a bit long as well. I'd also suggest adjusting the way he's standing. He looks like he's a bit off balance because of the way his knees are both a bit bent. I'd suggest looking at reference for more aggressive, confident poses. Things like soldiers or even bodybuilders. I think with a character like yours, his silhouette is very imposing with that giant shoulder pad and the huge weapon, but his legs kind of betray an awkwardness.

One suggestion, you have this steam coming from the top o fhis head, maybe go a bit further with the steampunk look and give him some sort of exhaust pipes out of his back, like maybe he's a mechanical man with a real person's head or something. Overall, great start. Keep posting your progress!

Thanks, Ryan. Appreciate the help and critique

I will keep on tweaking the arm as I am not happy with it.
I will attach the basic underlying sketch that started this off and you can see where I was heading with this.

The armor was intended to be as "true" to the real thing as possible. I wanted to convey the sense of industrial (cast iron), blacked, metal. I wanted to viewer to feel the weight and discomfort something like this will feel like. I imagined a suit of armor with pits, grooves, scratches, a bit of polish in some areas, gritty, etc.

bulky protusions like the shoulder and knee pads, were meant to convey the bad form factor of early knights' armor (visor with pinpoints for eye holes?!!).

That been said, that knee looks........interesting :). I am havent found a good mesh of all the concepts I had in mind.

PS: Pose started off OK but somehow thru the process of painting, it got more ackward. Might be that I focused a bit too early on the armor lines and shape and forgot to amke the armor flow around the figure.

Will continue to work on it
